Front Page and Contents Page Drafts

This my draft for my final Front page of my magazine,
Its going to consist of a main image spreading across the page to attract the audicence and make it very clear and easy to look at, around this image will be the main headling for the image and side headlings (like small storys or news with in the magazine) which will be on the bottom left of the front cover and it will have the title spread in the corner so people know what magazine it is and so its out the way from the picture.
I am thinking of including a logo but im not sure at this time.

This picture is my draft for my contents page for my college magazine, this will involve the magazines name at the top and a possible logo in the top right corner.
Below the magazines name will be the list of contents in the magazine, like the articles, information etc and next to this a sub story or news or recent updates to get the page alive, this may have a picture below if possibe. Also at the bottom of the page will be an advert or some more information and to finish it off a page number in the corner.

Contents Page Final

As you can i did the same as my original plan, as i found it was easy and simple to view. Nothing was complex or to over the top and distracting for the reader.
One difference i did tho, was making the advert bigger as i found it looked better and better for the advert or more information.

Final front cover.

This is my final cover, i have made a few alterations
from my set layout like moving the title to spead right
across the page and to not have another image on the front cover than to just have sub-headings as i felt that it will take up to much space and will cause the front cover to be to complex for the reader and will draw attention away from my main image what i want readers or viewers to see.

Photo's for my magazine front cover.

For my magazine i need a appropriate photo for the type of magazine i have and its audience, also with it meeting my requirements to make a good photo like... angle, background, area, clothing, pose, etc. Of this i took into account when taking the picture.

An example of a photo i would'nt use is like this

This photo will be useless for me to use, as the angle is far to low, you cannot see the person as the light has blurred the shot and makes it very hard to see how it is and the light is to over powering, drawing the audience attention to that not the person.

However the photo i am going to use is this...

I am going to use this image as mainly it is very clear and the person is center in the shot so he will catch the readers eye and also this photo is wuite clear on the narrative for what its about, with out reading anything. In addition the surrounds to are perfect as there are not in the way or overpowering to the main image, not like the sun was in the previous picture. Adding to the clearness of the picturethe pose and factual expressions of the man in the picture are clear and not distracting to the narrative and or not attractive toteh aduience.

Ross Walker

This is my blog for Media AS, I have just been issued my first project. It requires me to design a front cover for a college magazine using the application Adobe InDesign. I will need to use my own original photographs and also I need to create story's, headlines that will fit the curriculum of a college magazine not just any random one. For my photograph I will also need to take into account angle of photo, pose, area, everything so this is vital for my project.
